Crafted in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, Medicom SafeSeal® Quattro pouches are mechanically sealed using TruePress™ Technology. This unique technology involves an exclusive production process that fuses the proprietary blue tinted film with high grade medical paper to form a perfect bond. The result is a leak resistant pouch that protects the integrity of your instruments every time.

SafeSeal Quattro pouches give the user the assurance of confirming sterilization parameters in one easy step: time, temperature & steam with internal & external indicators printed directly on the pouch. All Medicom pouches provide peace of mind, convenience and economy. Properly stored, they maintain sterility of the instruments for up to 1 year post sterilization. Finally, SafeSeal Quattro pouches are tested and certified by an independent laboratory

Question: What is flash sterilization? Can sterilization pouches be used for flash sterilization?

Answer: A Flash Sterilization Cycle is a misnomer for emergency steam sterilization. When an instrument from the sterile field is inadvertently contaminated,  if a sterile replacement is not available, then the contaminated instrument must be processed 'in an emergency'. Often such contamination is a result of the instrument falling on the floor. The contaminated instrument is removed to the sterile processing area, cleaned, and put into the sterilizer for a flash cycle that is shorter than a normal cycle.  The instrument is normally placed on a porous or perforated tray that permits steam to disperse quickly. After the flash cycle, the instrument is removed immediately from the chamber by a clinician wearing sterile gloves and taken back to the patient intervention area for immediate use. This is a way to get a critical instrument back into service quickly when a sterile substitute is not available. “Flashed” instruments are never packaged, never stored. A flash cycle does not include a time provision that is adequate for steam to penetrate packaging.  Whether they are used or not, after the intervention the instruments are processed just as though they were contaminated. A flash cycle is only used in an emergency since the processing controls are not as stringent as a normal cycle; the flash cycle is not as secure for the patient.
